Payments provider Ukash has received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Ukash wins business award

Announced every year as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, the awards acknowledge outstanding achievement by UK businesses across a selection of categories including International Trade, the area in which Ukash has been recognised.

The firm has received a Queen’s Award for the fourth consecutive year, with company CEO David Hunter describing their latest success as “another vote of confidence in the continued importance of cash”.

Ukash utilises over 500,000 retail locations around the world to enable consumers who cannot or will not use traditional credit banking cards to buy online.

In the past year the company has extended availability into 60 countries, adding nations such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Romania and Ghana.

“We don’t manufacture anything – but we do make it possible for manufacturers, retailers and service providers to sell online to the global population of cash-preferring consumers,” said Hunter.

“Our phenomenal growth reflects just how important such sectors of society can be to the global economy and how hitherto they have largely been ignored by the online payments industry.”
