Hard Rock International confirm plans for former Taj Mahal building

The former Taj Mahal building will undergo a $375m renovation and plans to reopen in summer 2018.

The entrance of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will be entirely re-designed, and the casino will boast a completely new interior offering 130 table games and 2,400 slots. It will also become an entertainment venue with sporting events, live music arenas, shows and conferences with two separate arenas offering more than a total of 7,000 seats. Meeting space within the buildings will be updated to accommodate both large conventions and smaller events. Guest rooms and suites will also undergo a total redevelopment.

Meanwhile, Hard Rock Cafe will move to a new 400 seat venue, which includes an improved stage and a central location within the property.

The Chairman of Hard Rock International, Jim Allen said: “From world-renowned music events to innovative dining concepts, we’re excited to bring the Hard Rock Hotel experience to the Atlantic City Boardwalk – which has been home to our Hard Rock Cafe for more than 20 years.

“Our commitment to Atlantic City has never been stronger and we look forward to being a catalyst for further growth and development of the area.”

The partnership between the company and New Jersey residents Jack Morris and Jim Jingoli will create more than 3,000 permanent jobs, contributing to the regeneration of Atlantic City.
