Revenue figures were up just $0.68m from the same period in 2016, continuing what has been a record breaking year for live poker in the state. In the year up to June, poker rooms in the state raked in a whopping $22.28m, an increase of 27.6% on the $17.45m taken during the same period of 2016.

Gaming revenue from the states six casinos jumped 33.6% year on year to $138.7m, with the newly opened MGM National Harbor casino leading the charge with $50.7m in gaming revenue during July.

The Maryland Live casino took $46.8m in gaming revenue, while the Horseshoe Baltimore also reached double digit revenue figures for July, taking $22.9m in revenue.

However, Hollywood Perryville, Ocean Downs and Rocky Gap failed to reach double figures, taking $6.6m, $6.4m and $5m respectively.

Under Maryland law, casino revenue supports the Maryland Education Trust Fund, local impact grants, local jurisdictions, the state’s horse racing industry and the Maryland General Fund.
