Betfair Australia set to introduce Hong Kong horseracing markets against HKJC wishes
Betfair Australia will offer its online betting exchange to both Hong Kong’s horseracing tracks, Happy Valley and Sha Tin Races, without the approval of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Betfair Australia will offer its customers its full range of products starting on 1 September. Players based in Australia will legally be able to bet on a horse in Hong Kong to lose through the operator’s exchange.
The Jockey Club has previously voiced its concerns over the prospect of players being able to profit off a horse not winning.
Betfair Australia’s CEO Tim Moore-Barton said: “The level of transparency we have with racing stewards is world class.
“Nearly every racing body in Australia and others globally that have access the integrity tools we provide say it’s a key part of piecing together the big picture in their fight to keep the sport clean.”
