With more than a decade in the industry, Matthew has achieved numerous milestones at FanDuel and Fanatic.
In August 2018, FanDuel partnered with Minute Media to create a new site called The Duel. In November of that same year, Matthew led FanDuel to become a sports betting partner for the National Hockey League.
FanDuel also opened its first sportsbook at Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey, before opening another at Valley Forge Casino Resort in Pennsylvania.
In January 2023, Fanatics Betting and Gaming launched the Fanatics Sportsbook inside the FedExField Stadium in Maryland, in partnership with the Washington Commanders.
Under Matt’s leadership, FanDuel’s revenue grew from $120 million to almost $2 billion in just 7 years.
Matthew King started his career as a Business Analyst for McKinsey & Company, before a decade-long stint with KKR. Matthew entered the industry for the first time in 2014, when he became FanDuel’s Chief Financial Officer.
After two years with FanDuel, Matthew left to work as President of Regional Operations & Corporate Development at Cottingham & Butler. After a year, he returned to FanDuel, this time as CEO, a position he held from 2017 until 2021.
Matthew then took over as CEO of Fanatics Betting & Gaming in July 2021, a role that he currently occupies. In his position, he pioneered the company to become the first sports betting operator to launch its own separate predictions market product, Fanatics Markets.
Discussing the launch of Fanatics Markets, Matthew discussed how the platform is changing things for customers, giving them a more intuitive way to engage with sports and culture in new and exciting ways:
For years, Fanatics has given fans new ways to enhance their fandom through team merchandise, collectibles, tickets, gaming, events, and more. Now, with Fanatics Markets, we’re giving fans a safe and intuitive way to engage with the moments that move sports and culture, and to pick a side and profit along the way if their prediction is correct.
