Racing Victoria
Aaron Morrison is an experienced C-suite executive with a diverse background in sports betting, media, hospitality and finance. Known for his strong leadership and management skills, Morrison has a proven track record of delivering key outcomes in various sectors.
In May 2013, Morrison was responsible for securing NZ$400m in funding for the development of the International Convention Centre for New Zealand.
During his time at SkyCity Entertainment, he was responsible for the redevelopment project at Adelaide Casino. Through negotiations with the State Government of South Australia, more that A$350m was set aside for what became the largest private sector investment in Adelaide CBD.
Morrison’s career journey began in 1995 when he joined Crown Resorts as a Finance and Strategy Manager. Over the next nine years, he gained valuable experience in accounting, financial reporting, commercial negotiation and business strategy.
In 2004, Morrison advanced to the role of Senior Vice President of International Business Development for the company. In this position, he spearheaded mergers and acquisitions, corporate development and the expansion of Crown’s integrated resorts and casino locations across multiple markets, including Australia, USA, Hong Kong/Macau, Singapore, UK, Canada and Europe.
From 2010 to 2014, Morrison held the role of Group General Manager of Corporate Development and Investor Relations at SkyCity Entertainment Group, where he was responsible for corporate development, investor relations, government relations, licensing, regulatory affairs and construction and development.
He later took on the position of Group General Manager at Adelaide Casino – a role that saw him managing a casino and hospitality facility with over 1,200 employees and overseeing master planning for the facility’s expansion.
Next, Morrison spent a year and a half as the CEO of the Sand Hill Road Group, a privately owned hospitality group in Melbourne, Australia, where he provided business and operational leadership, as well as strategic planning and restructuring.
Morrison’s career with Racing Victoria began in 2017 when he joined as both the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer. During his time in these roles, he demonstrated his expertise in executive and organisational leadership, ultimately seeing him promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2022.
His performance across a range of C-Level roles at the company led to his appointment as Interim CEO in May 2024, culminating in his official appointment as Racing Victoria’s CEO in August 2024.
Commenting on Morrison’s appointment to the CEO role, Tim Eddy, Racing Victoria’s Chairman, stated:
