He successfully managed capital projects that increased unit throughput by 19% and overall capacity by 18%, contributing to the company’s ability to meet its global demand.

His commitment to safety and efficiency earned him the People of Manufacturing Safety Award in 2018 and the Operational Excellence Award in 2019, both presented by the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance.

In addition, Murphy’s implementation of safety and waste reduction programs resulted in annual savings of $258,000 in worker compensation costs.

EMPLOYMENT

Murphy began his career at FedEx Ground in 1997, where he served as Senior Regional Transportation Manager for ten years. In this role, he directed a team of 225 contractors, overseeing service, safety, and cost control initiatives.

He managed a $23m profit and loss budget, implemented safety programs that achieved a record of 1.1 million miles per accident, and improved overnight on-time service by 1.65%. His efforts to foster continuous improvement and build vendor relationships contributed to significant cost reductions and operational efficiency during a period of double-digit growth.

In 2007, Murphy joined Scientific Games as Packaging Manager, where he managed and motivated a team of over 250 employees to achieve operational objectives related to instant product packaging. He developed and maintained a $14m labour and operations budget, while implementing process improvements that increased average unit throughput by 40%.

In 2014, Murphy was promoted to Director of Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics at Scientific Games. In this capacity, he provided oversight for all aspects of instant product finishing, including packaging, converting, balancing and shipping more than 24 billion instant tickets globally.

In January 2025, it was announced that Murphy would succeed Joe Bennett as VP of US Instant Products Operations at Scientific Games. This transition places Murphy at the helm of the company’s instant game production facilities, which represent 70% of Scientific Games’ global retail sales.
