MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
Throughout his career, Wedar has held a series of senior leadership roles spanning the technology, digital media and iGaming sectors. At Eniro, he played a pivotal role in transforming the company’s traditional media services into a modern, digitally driven business – leading operations across Sweden, Finland and Denmark, and launching new digital advertising products in partnership with major platforms like Google. His leadership helped the company remain competitive amid rapid changes in consumer behaviour and media consumption.
Similarly, since pivoting into the gaming industry, Wedar has established a strong track record of technological and operational leadership. As Chief Product and Technology Officer at LeoVegas, he oversaw product strategy and innovation across multiple international brands and was instrumental in scaling the company’s platform post-acquisition by MGM Resorts. His appointment as CEO in 2025 reflects both his deep understanding of the business and his proven ability to guide complex, growth-oriented organisations through periods of transition.
AWARDS
LeoVegas has claimed multiple Online Casino of the Year Awards at the Global Gaming Awards EMEA in London. In Barcelona in 2025, BetMGM (run by the same parent company as LeoVegas) triumphed.
EMPLOYMENT
Wedar began his professional journey at Accenture in the late 1990s, where he spent over six years rising to the role of Manager. His time at the consultancy honed his skills in IT strategy and enterprise operations, preparing him for leadership roles in increasingly complex environments.
In 2005, he joined Eniro, a Nordic search and directory services company, where he would remain for over a decade and hold a series of leadership positions. Initially brought on as CIO, Wedar led the group’s IT organisation, overseeing strategy, infrastructure and system development.
As digital advertising began its rise, he played a key role in modernising Eniro’s offerings and driving the transition to a multi-platform service. His progression within the company was marked by increasingly senior roles: from CEO of Eniro Denmark, to CEO of Eniro Sweden & Finland and later SVP of Group Products & Marketing. In these posts, he directed product development, customer engagement and innovation strategies at scale, managing thousands of employees and navigating markets across Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Poland. His leadership during this period was characterised by an ability to evolve legacy media services into competitive digital offerings, including partnerships with Google and expansion into SEO and mobile-first solutions.
In 2017, Wedar made the transition into the gaming sector as CEO of GameTek, the technology division of MRG Group and operator of brands like Mr Green and Redbet. There, he was responsible for the group’s technology unit, spanning 14 operational markets. His focus was on building software development capabilities tailored for the fast-moving iGaming space.
Following on from this, Wedar joined LeoVegas Group as Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO) in 2019. Over the next six years, he played a central role in shaping the company’s digital strategy, overseeing product management, software development and technical operations across multiple global locations. Under his stewardship, LeoVegas’ brands – including LeoVegas.com, Royal Panda, GoGoCasino and PinkCasino – continued to expand their digital footprint. During this time, LeoVegas was also acquired by MGM Resorts International (2022), and Wedar played an important role in integrating the company’s product and tech infrastructure with MGM’s broader goals.
In 2025, Wedar briefly assumed the role of Deputy CEO before being formally appointed as Group CEO in June, succeeding co-founder Gustaf Hagman after his 14-year tenure. As CEO, Wedar now leads the entire LeoVegas Group at a pivotal moment in its journey post-acquisition. Reporting directly to MGM’s Interactive President, Gary Fritz, Wedar is hoped to drive the group’s next phase of international expansion and product development.
Regarding the CEO changeover, Fritz stated: “Gustaf Hagman's leadership and LeoVegas Group's expertise in product development and local market expansion have laid the foundation for positioning both BetMGM and LeoVegas as global leaders in the industry. I would like to thank Gustaf for his dedication and leadership, and I have full confidence that LeoVegas Group, under Mattias' leadership, will continue to deliver on our strategic plan. We look forward to supporting him and LeoVegas Group in our shared growth journey.”
Finally, departing CEO Hagman offered his words on the development, noting: "Mattias has been an invaluable asset from day one, and I am confident that he is the right person to take the Group to new heights. After 14 years of traveling and being constantly connected, I am now looking forward to a period of rest and more free time – but I will always be a part of 'Team Leo' and will continue to follow its success closely.”
“During the six years I have been part of what we call Team Leo, I have been consistently impressed by our innovation, pioneering spirit and strong corporate culture. The success story that Gustaf and Robin began 14 years ago is stronger than ever, and we see many exciting opportunities on the horizon. I am honoured to have been entrusted with the challenge of taking on the role of CEO in LeoVegas Group's new chapter, and I look forward to continuing to lead us towards new milestones." Mattias Wedar
