SkyCity to operate without COVID-19 restrictions in Auckland from 8 October

SkyCity has announced its property in Auckland will be able to operate without COVID-19 restrictions from later this week.

The casino operator will be able to resume without restrictions on mass gatherings and social distancing requirements from 8 October.

The return to normal operations follows the New Zealand government’s announcement that Auckland will move to Alert Level 1 from Alert Level 2 of the COVID-19 Alert System, at 11:59pm on 7 October.

That means that SkyCity’s Auckland venue will follow its Hamilton and Queenstown properties at operating without restrictions, which have been doing so since 22 September.

In June, SkyCity Auckland was able to resume as normal after New Zealand moved its alert level down to one, however on August 12, the casino was temporarily shut as the country implemented new restrictions. It has been operating under measures since late August.
