Better Collective executive: “Players are back to sports betting”

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the industry at large, with sports betting only starting to see slight improvements in the last couple of months due to the return of major competitions across Europe.

Like all sports betting firms, Better Collective’s operations have taken a hit as a direct result of the break in sporting action throughout lockdown.

The sports betting company’s brands include bettingexpert, SpilXperten, and VegasInsider among many others.

Better Collective managing director for Greece & Romania Kyriakos Fourniadis spoke exclusively to Gambling Insider, about how its Greek brand Betarades has been dealing with the ongoing pandemic.

“The Hellenic Basketball Federation has recently decided to stop the matches, but all the other sports are still ongoing,” said Fourniadis.

“Of course, it’s more or less the same status with many other European markets.

“So the casino games gained a lot of attention in the first months of the pandemic, but from August we see that players are back to sports betting.”

Better Collective has, however, managed to find solutions to combat the problems brought about by the current pandemic.

Fourniadis  added: “I think that we managed to balance all these cancellations we had in sports, and we performed really well during the months of lockdown.

“I would say that casino content - where we created a lot of virtual stuff - but also esports content, helped us balance these cancellations in the sports industry.”
