Arkansas sports betting reaches $6.6m in handle for October

The state’s sports betting venues have been operating at a reduced capacity since June, though October’s handle still improved month-on-month; it rose almost 66% compared to September, when wagers totalled $4m (in itself a 292% rise from August).

Sportsbook revenue from the $6.6m was $940,514, a 137% month-on-month growth.

West Memphis’ Southland Casino reported $4.1m in wagers, bringing in two thirds of the monthly total. That’s a 76% increase from $2.3m in September, while revenue for the casino was $546,627.

Oaklawn Racing Casino reported $1.7 in bets and $284,757 in revenue, a rise from $1.1m in wagers and $52,007 in revenue for September.

Saracen Casino officially opened mid-October, generating $726,311 in wagers and $109,129 in revenue.

With football games and other sports events continuing, the increase in bets and revenue should continue through November, according to Legal Sports Report.

Currently, the state does not have a mobile sportsbook system in place and there are few sports betting venues.

Changes to betting legislation could open more opportunities to bettors, following the example of numerous other US states currently enjoying booming mobile growth.
