The Macau operations unit of SJM Holdings Ltd announced that the first payment will be made on 6 January.

Employees with monthly salaries of MOP$20,000 (US$2,490) or below will be entitled to a bonus equivalent to two months’ salary, with those earning more than MOP$20,000 receiving either one-and-a-half months’ salary, or a bonus of MOP$40,000, whichever is higher.

The payment forms part of the company’s three-year bonus scheme for its employees, which is running from 2020 to 2022. A summer living subsidy – the most recent payment – was paid out on 3 July 2020.

“We would like to thank our staff members for their diligent work and dedicated support amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said SJM Chairman Daisy Ho.

“SJM fully supports the preventive measures taken by the Macau SAR Government. Entering 2021, we stand in solidarity with the Macau people in safeguarding the health and safety of the community, and in welcoming a bright new year.”

SJM’s living subsidy scheme was launched in 2014, and was described as a “guaranteed allowance” for its employees.

The company’s flagship property in Macau is the Grand Lisboa casino hotel, while it is expected to launch its HK$39bn (US$5bn) Cotai integrated resort Grand Lisboa Palace later this year.
