Adjusted net income increased 86% year-on-year to £155.4m, with adjusted EBITDA increasing 75% year-on-year to £206.2m.

The company’s average active players per month grew 21% from the prior-year period to 712,334, while real money revenue per month grew 28% to £58.2m. That resulted in a 6% rise in monthly real money revenue per average active player to £82.

“We are pleased to announce another strong set of results, particularly against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted so many across the world,” said Gamesys Group chair Neil Goulden.

“All our colleagues have done an incredible job in maintaining seamless business continuity throughout the year, while also enhancing our responsible gambling approach to ensure we remain a best-in-class operator in protecting our recreational players.”

Gamesys also announced that chief people officer Tina Southall will join the group’s board of directors as an executive director on 9 March. She joined the company in 2014, having previously held senior roles at Avis, Vodafone and the RAC.

Commenting on her appointment, Goulden said: “I am delighted to welcome Tina to the Gamesys Board. She has been at the heart of establishing the Gamesys values, our ‘DNA’ and a highly successful new way of working for the company during the current pandemic.

“I am confident that Tina will continue to evolve our culture as we face the future, bringing valuable insight and new perspectives to the board.”
