This follows on from the news Macau welcomed the highest amount of visitors since February 2020 during the same month.
Data shows a 59% rate for guestrooms and a 550% year-on-year increase for hotels, with 694,000 checked-in guests. While international travel remains restricted, most of the city’s visitors are from Mainland China.
There was a total of 11,000 visitors joining the local tours, and 20,000 residents used travel agency services for outbound travel, reports Asia Gaming Brief; 99% of the visitors were from China, as the region has travel arrangements with the mainland, which eased the health and safety regulations keeping international visitors away.
For the first four months of 2021, the number of local tourists rose by 82% year-on-year to 17,000; outbound residents traveling through agencies dropped by 50% to 44,000. The average occupancy rate for four months was 48%, a 14% year-on-year increase; the average length of stay is 1.7 nights.
As a way to help Macau battle the Covid-19 pandemic and help the economy recover, Galaxy Entertainment Group will hold two Covid-19 Vaccine Information Seminars for its team members.
The informative seminars will be held on 1-2 June, with Dr. Tai Wa Hou, representative of the Health Bureau of the Macau SAR Government, as one of the speakers.
The group also plans to enable on-site vaccination for its employees. “Committed to protecting the health and safety of its team members, GEG has been working closely with the relevant departments and supporting the related pandemic prevention and control measures laid out by the Macau SAR Government,” said the group.
