The group was arrested via a joint operation by the City Task Force and PM Palem Police.

The organised bets are believed to have occurred from 9 June at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

According to Circle Inspector (CI) Ravi Kumar the four arrested were believed to be betting on the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, and 12 June's match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.

The police managed to arrest four individuals that have been named in local reports; they also managed to seize communication devices that were being used to host illegal betting.

The seized equipment includes a set-up box that contained 29 mobile phones, headsets, SIM cards, two laptops, two TV sets, five account books, a router and INR1590 ($21.70).

According to local reports and the police, the main culprit has not been found; the individual is said to have recruited those arrested to run the illegal betting operation.

The police said: “The gang had communication set-up box equipment, which had 30 mobile phones, to communicate with 30 persons at a time.

"The gang used an app to communicate ratings of the match. Moreover, they also cheated the punters by announcing wrong ratings on the matches.”

CI, Ravi Kumar added: “The task force police went and arrested the four accused, while residents of CH Srinivasu escaped."
