“We will do our best to ensure safety and quarantine so that you can enjoy fun in Paradise City in the coming summer with confidence,” said the company. “The re-opening of Wonderbox will be a signal to target domestic travel demand in earnest.”
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Paradise City has been closed multiple times, and the aforementioned attractions have been shut down for a year since 1 July 2020.
Paradise City is part of the entertainment zone in Incheon, which was supposed to be the next big attraction for players – with its convenient location near the international airport.
But the pandemic halted most international travel, and some of Incheon’s venues are facing additional troubles, such as the Midan City casino that lost its gaming operator after Caesars Entertainment pulled out of the project.
The overall development of the Incheon gaming zone, which was supposed to attract 100 million visitors, has been delayed with no official opening dates for any of the in-progress properties.
Another South Korean casino operator, Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), is doing slightly better, recording KRW$10.2bn ($9m) in total net sales for May.
Recently, GKL announced it signed a business agreement with the Yeongdong Traditional Market Merchants Association, to help boost local shopping districts by supporting the production of promotional maps for local markets, reports Asia Gaming Brief.
“I hope that through this agreement, the traditional market, which has been difficult due to Covid-19, can be revived,” said Head of GKL’s Marketing Department, Park Chan-doo.
