Nevada gaming win tops $1bn for May

Total gaming win in Nevada amounted to over $1bn for the first time since December 2013 in May.

Figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) have showed a total of $1.003bn, which is a 3% year-on-year increase and is the highest monthly gaming win total since $1.03bn was reported 17 months previously.

Overall slot win amounted to $601.4m, up 8%, while win from 1 cent slot machines increased 12% to $242.6m.

Baccarat win went down 36% to $109.8m, while blackjack win went up 27% to $122.7m.

Sports pool win was $19.8m, up 74%, for a month where Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena hosted the unification world welterweight title boxing fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, while race book win went down 10% to $5.97m.

Card game win went up 1% to $10.3m, and win from other categories, which includes Nevada’s regulated online poker market, totalled $8.2m, up 346%.

The NGCB stopped releasing monthly online poker win as an individual figure in monthly reports from the start of this year, as less than three online poker sites now operate in the state, following the closure of Ultimate Poker.

In the months between December 2013 and May 2015, the highest monthly gaming win total to have been recorded was $982.2m for March last year.

The previous highest monthly gaming win total this year was January’s $952.7m, which was an 8% rise.
