The state has brought in at least $1bn for the fifth straight month, with July’s total easily surpassing the record $1.23bn set in May.

House winnings by Las Vegas Strip casinos grew 21% month-on-month to $794m, with that total representing a 47% increase from July 2019, before the pandemic. And the figure was a 140% increase from 2020.

Table, counter and card game winnings totalled $486.2m, an increase of 48% compared to July 2019, and the second-highest total in state history.

Over $12bn was bet with slot machines, with sports pool winnings setting a record at $33.3m. And bets made with mobile apps won $13.6m on $242m in wagers.

Southern Nevada visitors meanwhile totalled 3.3 million for the month according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which approached the 3.7 million figure in July 2019, despite any reported convention attendance.

Nevada Gaming Control Board analyst Michael Lawton said: “July was a perfect storm for gaming win in terms of special events, the month having five weekends, Resorts World’s first full month of operations, and a very unusual baccarat month.

“This, of course, is in addition to the contributing factors we have discussed in previous months, which include demand, return of leisure travel, and healthy consumers due to stimulus.”
