Yahoo!
rnet corporation Yahoo has added Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy to its fantasy sports website.

The daily fantasy sports (DFS) product offers one-day and one-week fantasy contests for cash prizes.

Yahoo first announced its intentions to enter the DFS market in April when its CEO Marissa Mayer confirmed the plans at an earnings call.

Yahoo SVP product and engineering Simon Khalaf said: “For more than 16 years, we've built the best fantasy experience for our fans. Our users spend nearly 30 billion minutes a year playing fantasy sports on Yahoo, and today we're thrilled to introduce a daily fantasy experience designed for the modern fan.

"The growing popularity of daily fantasy games is a fantastic opportunity for us to bolster our leadership by providing our millions of existing fantasy users as well new fans out there with a unique take on this game genre."

Players can currently only use Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy for Major League Baseball games.

The service, which operates with a salary cap, can be downloaded as an app from the App Store to play on the iPhone.

In a similar move, provider Amaya Gaming announced in March its plans to enter the DFS market, and it aims to launch its DFS product before the start of the 2015 National Football League season.
