In a move that will see him step out of the public sector and into the private one, Borgen brings nearly a decade of online gaming and regulatory experience to his new role as Director of Account Management at Shape Games.
He was formerly the PMO Director of Danske Spil, Denmark’s state-run lottery and sportsbook provider, and oversaw its operations as the Danish market opened up to private competition in 2012.
“Shape Games has a strong track record in the successful combination of innovative, seamless and customer-focused user experience with the attention to compliance to give users peace of mind and security,” said Borgen.
“I’m happy to be part of the exciting next phase of the company’s growth and bring my knowledge of helping companies navigate regulatory requirements to maximise their growth and user experiences.”
Under Borgen’s leadership, Danske Spil maintained its market leadership in the face of competition from major global online gaming companies.
The iGaming service provider is hoping that the Danish executive can do the same for it as Shape Games looks to add more momentum to its ongoing expansion into the US gaming market and beyond.
Christian Risom, Co-founder and CEO of Shape Games, enthusiastically embraced this latest addition to its management team: “Ulrik is a mobile product innovator who knows how to beat the competition by delivering what consumers want, even before they know they want it.
“His expertise in being a public sector operator and developing industry-leading products within complex regulatory environments complements our deep bench of commercial gaming expertise.”
