She will officially start the role on 17 January 2022, with Helen Martin to continue in her role as COO after taking on additional responsibilities during the recruitment process.
Dr Rigbye is a chartered psychologist and fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, and “brings a wealth of experience to the role following fifteen years working in this professional field,” a statement from YGAM read.
She has nine years of experience working in senior leadership roles at GambleAware, including her most recent post as Prevention Director.
“I’m incredibly proud to be joining YGAM during an exciting period of growth,” said Dr Rigbye. “For many years, I have observed and admired the important work the organisation delivers, so I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the team into the next strategic cycle.
“Prevention of gambling and gaming harm is more important than ever. I look forward to working collaboratively to deliver the impact that can be achieved through education.”
Dr Rigbye has also previously worked in the NHS, and has contributed to research on many aspects of public health in gaming and gambling.
