YGAM’s ‘Mindful Resilience’ programme, developed in cooperation with Betknowmore UK and Bournemouth University, functions as a specialist tool aimed at supporting healthcare professionals with gambling treatment. The programme equips GPs, nurses, pharmacists, social prescribers and mental health workers with the knowledge and information to help those at risk of gambling harm.
The programme was launched in 2021, with YGAM and Betknowmore UK teaming up with academics from Bournemouth University.
The aim was to design and launch a holistic training scheme, with input from psychologists and those who lived with the experience of gambling problems. The programme also promotes signposting to the National Treatment Network and NHS for patients needing support.
Welcoming the accreditation, Caroline Gallagher, Director of Compliance & Quality Assurance, YGAM, commented: “The RSPH accreditation is significant because it demonstrates the training content and delivery is of an exceptional standard, and brings confidence and credibility for our audience.
“Since YGAM’s inception, we have had a relentless focus on independent evaluations and securing external accreditations for our work. This recognition further evidences the importance and benefits of collaboration when producing impactful resources.”
In addition to the accreditation, the programme also received a parliamentary stamp of approval recently, with Dr Rosena Alin-Khan MP, Shadow Minister for Mental Health, describing the scheme as “pioneering.”
The RSPH has been providing accreditations since 1904, with three types of services currently offered, namely: training accreditation, campaign accreditation and university accreditation. Other accredited members include The Co-operative, Drinkaware and Citizens Advice.
