The two-time Grammy nominated artist will reportedly play a “pivotal role” in the WPT’s 20th anniversary season.

The organisation is hoping to cash in on Aoki’s history of brand development, and will collaborate with the DJ as it formulates “a new look and feel.”

Aoki will also engage with poker fans at a number of WPT special events throughout 2022. The Las Vegas-based DJ is a long-time poker fan who looked forward to working with the WPT.

“It’s such an honour to be joining the WPT family,” said Aoki. “I have watched and admired the WPT for many, many years and to now be part of the WPT family; it feels so surreal, and I am incredibly grateful.”

Moreover, in mid-2022, Aoki and the WPT will host an invite-only event in Las Vegas to benefit the DJ’s charitable organisation, the Aoki Foundation. The artist’s charity primarily supports organisations in the fields of brain science and research.

WPT Chief Exec Adam Pliska commented: “The passion and energy in which Steve Aoki approaches every aspect of his life is both inspiring and very much in line with the new vision of the WPT.

“Steve’s love of poker and his dedication to inspiring others to live life to the fullest makes him the ideal WPT brand ambassador.

“We are honoured to have him play an active role in our transformation and in the celebration of World Poker Tour’s 20th anniversary.”

WPT Season XX began on 13 January 2022 with the Lucky Hearts Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
