The security robot, branded as Roameo, is designed to patrol a venue’s perimeter and record any suspicious activity while on security patrols. It also has the capability of interacting with guests through two 21.5-inch touchscreens.
The unit stands at seven-feet tall, and weighs over 700 pounds, or 318kg. The name Roameo is an acronym; Rugged Observation Assistance Mobile Electronic Officer. It uses four cameras to provide a 360-degree field of vision, connects to the venue via Wi-Fi and is complete with both human and vehicle number plate recognition.
Christer Farr, Vice President of IT, Red Hawk Casino, commented: “We are eager to have Roameo on our property. Roameo will be deployed as a much-needed asset for our security team, and as an attraction for our guests. I’m excited to see how our Roameo's production is developing.”
RAD, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions, announced that it is also producing a series of online videos, which will be shared on its parent company’s YouTube channel.
The videos will detail both the manufacturing and design processes, with the first instalment titled: ‘Roameo: From the Rex to Red Hawk Casino.’
Steve Reinharz, CEO, AITX, said: “Occasionally we’re able to name clients as deployment and implementations occur, especially on public-facing robots like Red Hawk’s Roameo. It’s going to be a beautiful site seeing Roameo patrol its property and interacting with its guests.”
