Having been awarded nine Limited Event Wagering Operator (LEWO) licences by the authorities, Unibet will be able to increase its brand awareness across the state.

The news comes three months afte the launch of Unibet’s first sportsbook in the state, having opened a retail location at Paradise Casino on 8 December 2021.

The award of nine new licences means Unibet can conduct event wagering at venues across the state, including Turf Paradise, Brookside II, Charley's Sports Grill, Gallagher's 16th, Gallagher's Baseline, Harold's, R.T. O'Sullivan, Boston's Bar and Midtown Tavern.

Manuel Stan, SVP North America, Kindred Group, commented: “Over the next few months, we will work closely with our partners to prepare launches in the different locations and are excited to be able to bring our best-in-class product to more customers in Arizona.

"Being awarded nine of the 10LEWO licenses is a great outcome for Kindred, Turf Paradise and our partners in the state. This is a great opportunity for Kindred to expand the Unibet brand in Arizona and build on the early success in the state.”

Last month, Kindred posted strong financial results for 2021, despite a challenging Q4 trading period. While annual revenue climbed 11%, to $1.25bn, and EBITDA 15%, to $332m, Q4 revenue dropped by 34% year-on-year, while EBITDA fell 77%.

In addition to Unibet, Kindred also owns the likes of 32Red, Bingo.com and Vlad Casino.

Sports betting in Arizona was legalised in April 2021, with the first sportsbooks taking bets from 9 September. Upon passing the bill, the Joint Legislative Budget Committee estimated Arizona could benefit from as much as $34m in tax per year from sports wagering.
