Luke Staudenmaier, BetMGM Director of Poker, said."The first-ever BetMGM Poker Championship descends on Las Vegas during one of the most exciting times of the poker season.
"Aria is a legendary poker brand and we're thrilled that the Championship has become an integral part of this year's Poker Classic. Through our relationship with MGM Resorts and its US properties, we'll continue to leverage event programming and connect with players both online and in their favourite poker rooms."
The BetMGM Poker Championship is a $3,500 buy-in no limit hold ‘em tournament carrying a $1m guarantee. On Saturday 25 June, a $600 buy-in BetMGM Poker Mystery Bounty will be the first time Aria has held a modern-style live poker knockout tournament.
Prize packages will be awarded to at least 15 players throughout a rolling schedule of daily qualifiers and weekly satellites. These packages include a buy-in for the BetMGM Poker Championship, travel expenses and a five-night stay at ARIA.
With its continual expansion into new markets, BetMGM retains a focus on responsible gaming education. The company offers resources to customers to help ensure they are playing responsibly, such as GameSense. This is a programme that was developed and licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, with whom the team has worked since 2017.
This follows BetMGM's work throughout Problem Gambling Awareness Month which was held in March. To coincide with this campaign MGM Resorts and BetMGM joined forces with the National Council on Problem Gambling to further enhance their commitments to the issue.
