This accolade is offered by the Safety Consultation and Training Section of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations. The specific properties listed are Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel, and California Hotel and Casino; it is the first time either has earned this safety honour.
"Creating a safe environment for our team members and guests is a top priority for Boyd Gaming," said Andre Filosi, California Hotel and Casino, Fremont Hotel and Casino and Main Street Station Casino Brewery Hotel Vice President and General Manager.
"We are proud of our company's long-standing partnership with Nevada SCATS that has helped us implement comprehensive safety programmes and set the standard for excellence in workplace safety."
Boyd Gaming is part of a group of businesses that have achieved SHARP status through the maintenance of certain levels of health and safety protocols. The notion behind participation in the no-cost scheme is to support employers in their individual development and improvement programmes.
By taking these measures, it is believed that businesses can reduce accident costs and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) regulations.
"Boyd Gaming is a committed safety leader within the casino industry," said Todd Schultz, SCATS Chief Administrative Officer. "It's an honour to support Nevada-based companies like this that ensure their employees return home safe and healthy every day."
SCATS consultants provide employers with confidential hazard identification, programme development, implementation assistance and training. Companies that ensure effective safety programmes and have a days-away restricted transfer (DART) rate that’s below the national average are often recognised by SCATS.
