Genius Sports welcomes ex-Conservative Minister to Advisory Council
Genius Sports has appointed former UK Minister for Sport Sir Hugh Robertson to its Business Advisory Council.
Robertson is Genius’ latest addition to its recently formed Business Advisory Council, a body established to offer guidance and support regarding strategy and direction.
In this regard, Genius touted Robertson’s “wealth of experience and expertise,” with CEO Mark Locke calling it “invaluable.”
“We are thrilled with the appointment of Sir Hugh. For over twenty years, he has worked tirelessly for British sport and brings extensive commercial and stakeholder expertise to help drive the health and future growth of our company,” said Locke.
“Sir Hugh’s unique expertise and experience will be invaluable to positioning Genius as the global leader in sports data and technology.”
Alongside his new position on the company’s Advisory Council, Robertson is currently Chairman of Camelot Group and the British Olympic Association.
Before assuming these positions, Robertson was a Conservative Party politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Faversham and Mid Kent between 2001 and 2015.
During David Cameron’s premiership, Robertson acted as Minister for Sport and the London Olympics, later becoming Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, responsible for the Middle East, North Africa and counter terrorism.
