Grammy and Emmy award winner Rock was presented with the honour by Tom Cantone, Mohegan’s President of Sports and Entertainment Worldwide, ahead of his fourth sold-out show at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which was part of his Ego Death World Tour.
Cantone said in a statement: “In a world that needs more laughter, how timely is it to induct Chris Rock, who is now forever enshrined into the Mohegan Sun Entertainment family.”
Rock has consistently sold out his shows at the Mohegan Sun Arena since his debut in 2008, and the acclaimed comedian will now join an esteemed list of fellow Walk of Fame inductees, including Bon Jovi, Kevin Hart, Kiss and Taylor Swift.
This accolade is intended to show gratitude and recognition to artists and organisations that have made “significant contributions to the success of Mohegan Sun as the Northeast’s premier entertainment destination.”
The Mohegan Sun Arena is a 10,000-seat venue located inside the Mohegan Sun Casino Resort. It reports to be one of the busiest arenas in the US and has received numerous awards and honours from a range of magazines and media outlets.
Rock’s contributions to the Mohegan Sun Arena through his sell-out shows will be commemorated with a plaque engraved with his name, permanently situated at the arena entrance.
Rock, who has won four Emmy Awards, three Grammy Awards and is a best-selling author, achieved notoriety earlier this year after an altercation with actor Will Smith at the 2022 Academy Awards.
It doesn't look like there will be a Walk of Fame on the cards for Smith anytime soon. Perhaps a Walk of Shame, however?
