Barber is a finance veteran, having served as CFO for two other Canadian organisations prior to her latest appointment.
Most recently, she was CFO for Torstar Corporation, a role that represented the culmination of her decade-long career at the company.
Having joined in 2012, Barber also held various other management positions, including CFO for Torstar Community and Daily News Brands, as well as Senior Vice President of Finance.
Before joining Torstar, she served as CFO and Corporate Secretary for Hydrogenics, a manufacturer of on-site hydrogen generators and power systems listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and Nasdaq.
In this role, Barber led the company’s overall financial reporting and management, as well as investor relations and corporate secretary activities.
But now, the 10-year Torstar veteran will oversee NorthStar Gaming’s financial reporting and management as the company looks to scale up its operations.
This latter goal includes NorthStar Bets, an online casino and sportsbook that recently launched in Ontario to capitalise on the province’s burgeoning iGaming market.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jennifer to NorthStar Gaming, she is a skilled financial leader who brings decades of financial management experience to our growing leadership team,” said Michael Moskowitz, CEO and a Founding Partner of NorthStar Gaming.
“Jennifer’s wealth of financial management and reporting expertise is tremendously valuable to us as we rapidly scale our operations.”
In addition to her previously mentioned experience, Barber holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
