European customers can now apply for a Visa debit card through the AstroPay app, which it said will be issued “instantly.”
This card can then be used to make payments both online and in-store via a “passthrough wallet in the end.”
Any store that accepts Visa will permit customers to use their balance, without the need for intermediaries.

“The new debit card will save people’s time and effort in making transactions wherever they are.”
Wallester, a white label card issuer, will provide the technology and enable transaction processing services on Visa for AstroPay users.
This move also expands the company’s user base and signifies a new partnership with Visa, Europe’s preferred payment network.
“Our partnership with VISA and Wallester advances our ambition to meet the unique needs of our users who remain at the centre of AstroPay’s work,” Lijtenstein said.
He added: “Working with Wallester allows us to launch a competitive product in record time and helps us accelerate our growth.”
