When the deal between Hard Rock and MGM Resorts is approved by the Nevada gambling regulators, the current president of Hard Rock’s Atlantic City casino will move to head up the new operation in Las Vegas.
Lupo, who will subsequently also leave his position as president of the Casino Association of New Jersey, commented on his new appointment, saying: “The last four years in Atlantic City have been such a rewarding experience for me. I feel humbled and excited to be appointed as the new president of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas project, and to return home to my family.”
It could be said, somewhat light-heartedly, that Lupo has "completed" New Jersey and is now setting his sights back on Las Vegas.
While Hard Rock chairman Jim Allen praised Lupo’s management, stating: “Thanks to his dedication and expertise, financial results continue to outperform expectations, while our team members share an unmatched commitment to guest service and satisfaction. I am confident Joe Lupo will achieve even greater success at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.”
Credited with overseeing the success of Hard Rock’s Atlantic City casino since it opened in 2018, Joe Lupo will now leave his current post on 1 September.
That position will be taken by the current General Manager, Anthony Faranca, who commented on his promotion: “I’m thrilled to lead this incredible team and confident that we will continue to accomplish great things in Atlantic City.”
Lupo spoke to Gaming America for the Jan/Feb 2022 edition of the magazine.
