The Venetian in Las Vegas adds Freestyle Love Supreme to entertainment roster
The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas will debut a new musical show from Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Freestyle Love Supreme, an improvisational hip-hop group co-founded by Miranda, will perform at The Venetian.
The group, which recently completed a Broadway run at Booth Theatre, will take the stage at The Venetian’s Summit Showroom for a 90-minute show.
Seven performers, alongside a rotating cast of special guests, will spin audience suggestions into comedic bits, songs and riffs.
Miranda, who is best known for creating musicals Hamilton and In the Heights, co-created Freestyle Love Supreme alongside Thomas Kail and Anthony Veneziale.
The group’s name pays homage to jazz saxophonist John Coltrane’s 1965 album “A Love Supreme.”
“Some of my most fulfilling creative moments have come from working on Freestyle Love Supreme and I’m excited to see its next chapter unfold on the Las Vegas Strip at The Venetian Resort,” said Miranda.
“This show consistently surprises the performers and the audience and I’m certain the Las Vegas crowd will bring an added element of excitement that we haven’t seen before.”
From an industry perspective, The Venetian’s latest addition is indicative of a larger trend. Las Vegas has long worked towards diversification, away from purely gambling towards entertainment and hospitality more broadly.
