Lake Charles had previously been home to Isle of Capri Lake Charles, Caesars Entertainment’s riverboat casino, but the venue was sadly destroyed by Hurricane Laura in 2020.

The group noted that the devastation resulted in the loss of hundreds of jobs, but that Horseshoe Lake Charles has now created 600 new jobs for the community, with half of the former employees returning to work at the new property.

“The all-new 60,000-square-foot property will bring the legendary Horseshoe brand to southwest Louisiana, showcasing the ultimate gambling experience for guests, including new rooms, unmatched restaurants and a variety of entertainment,” a statement from Caesars Entertainment read.

“Through this opening, Caesars is not only reestablishing itself in the region, but it is also the first casino to break land in Lake Charles, and the second casino in Louisiana overall from Caesars Entertainment. In fact, the first casino in history to break land in the state was Harrah’s New Orleans.”

Horseshoe Lake Charles currently has almost 1,000 slot machines and table games, an official World Series of Poker (WSOP) Poker Room, a new Caesars Sportsbook and 253 hotel rooms. Coming soon to the venue is a new pool and Gordon Ramsay Steak.

Last month, Caesars Entertainment reported revenue of $2.9bn for the third quarter of 2022, a 6% increase from the third quarter of 2021.

Regional revenue led the way with $1.53bn, followed by Las Vegas at $1.07bn. Caesars Digital revenue totalled $212m, with Managed and Branded revenue totalling $70m.
