The arrival of March once again allows Epic Risk Management to draw attention to gambling-related harm, with the 20th iteration of Problem Gambling Awareness Month (Pgam).

Pgam exists to raise awareness of problem gambling, but also the wide variety of treatments and recovery services that are available. It encourages healthcare providers to screen more patients for problem gambling.

John Millington, Senior Director of Epic Risk Management, said: “We regularly repeat the message that the US has the chance to create the safest gambling industry in the world.

“This is linked to the ongoing state-by-state legalization of sports wagering that has been taking place over recent years; we want to ensure safeguarding takes place at the same time as the new opportunities to bet are rolled out in each state, and education plays a key role in that process.”

Epic Risk Management is an independent gambling harm minimisation consultancy that works across the highest risk sectors for gambling-related harm. Epic operate in 28 countries, providing programs, training and advise all related to problem gambling.

Millington continues: “Through lived experience, we aim to take the problem out of gambling, and the way in which we do this is something we wish to continue to highlight thanks to the enhanced public awareness that Pgam provides.”

Throughout this month, Epic will be highlighting the four major areas that are at the forefront of the problem gambling discussion, in relation to other organisations.

These will be: adverse effect on performance, protection of reputation, regulatory compliance and duty of care.
