The Board of Directors at the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) have made the decision to appoint Adriane Koppe and Monique van Oers as Chairs on the Advisory Committee on Appeals.

The decision was made to appoint two people to replace one, due to the increasing number of sanction appeals submitted to the authority.

With two people holding the role, the KSA expects the workload to be distributed across them fairly, to allow for it to be processed quicker.

This decision has been made a month after the KSA imposed €26m ($27.6m) in fines against five separate operators in December 2022.

René Jansen, Chairman of the KSA, said: "We are pleased to have found two worthy successors for Mrs. J.M.E. Feije, and thank her for her valuable efforts.

“We are very fortunate to have these two very knowledgeable and experienced chairmen for our appeal procedures.”

Koppe currently works at The Hague University of Applied Sciences as a lecturer in Constitutional and Administrative Law.

Van Oers is the Director of the Legal Services at the Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM).

Previous to this role, Van Oers held management positions at the Legal Department’s Competition Uni and World Bank projects.

She also worked for many years in Brussels and the Netherlands as a competition lawyer.

Both Koppe and Van Oers will hold the chairmanship for an initial period of three years before a review is held.

On 1 July, the KSA will require all Dutch-licenced operators to abide by a new ban on untargeted advertising.

This is part of the Remote Gambling Act (KOA) and will be imposed across all public media platforms.
