nos in Maryland continue to experience year-to-year growth. According to figures released Monday by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming agency, the state’s five casinos generated a record revenue of $104.4 million in May. Total slots revenue was $66.9m while table games revenue was up 14.3% to $37.4m. May’s results are $8 million higher compared to the same period last year.
"Maryland's casino business is on a roll," lottery director Gordon Medenica commented in a statement. Back in April, the reported revenue was $103.9m and this was the first time that the revenue total of the state’s casinos has exceeded $100m. A second consecutive month of plus-$100m revenue is a clear indication that the gaming industry in Maryland is buoyant.
Maryland Live! Casino was the best-performing casino in May, reporting $59 million in revenue last month while Horseshoe Casino Baltimore claimed the most significant rise by bringing in $28.8m, a year-over-year increase of 31.1%.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Casino Perryville revenue was down 3% to $6.9m.
