ew Jersey fell short of breaking the previous month’s i-gaming win record in August, though the total of $16.1m was up 32% year-on-year.

July’s sum of $17.4m remains the market’s monthly win record in its near three-year history, and while that feat could not be bettered in August, it marked the fifth consecutive month where the $16m barrier was broken.

Online poker win was $2.2m, up 10%, and the month once again showed that PokerStars’ stirring effect on the market when it resumed operating in the state in March has now worn off.

PokerStars still managed to top its competitors with a showing of $865,150, ahead of WSOP.com/888 with $699,500 and Borgata/PartyPoker with $608,800, but it is still not near to matching April’s $2.3m, PokerStars NJ’s first full month in operation.

Golden Nugget/Betfair led the way for online casino win with $3.5m, ahead of Borgata/Pala Casino with $3.1m.

The year-to-date online gaming win figure of $128.3m is up 33% on the same point last year.

For land-based casinos, August’s total gaming win of $229.8m was down 7%, and the state’s total gaming win of $245.9m is down 5%.

Casino win year-to-date has almost completely flat-lined, with the figure of $1.639bn being up from $1.635bn, and Atlantic City is narrowly on course to avoid a tenth consecutive annual casino win decline.
