Hard Rock International (HRI) announced it will cease operations at The Mirage Hotel & Casino on July 17, 2024, to begin converting the property into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas (HRHCLV). This new integrated resort will feature a nearly 700-foot guitar-shaped hotel in the centre of the Las Vegas Strip.

“We thank the Las Vegas community and our team members for welcoming Hard Rock after 34 years at The Mirage,” said Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International.

“We also appreciate the support from unions, community leaders, government organisations, and the Gaming Commission, as well as MGM for assisting with our transition.”

Joe Lupo, President of The Mirage, expressed gratitude to the employees, saying,

“While we pause for this incredible transformation, we thank all team members at The Mirage for their commitment and service. We plan to host hiring events with other employers in Las Vegas to help connect Mirage employees with new job opportunities.”

The HRHCLV project is expected to double the current number of jobs at The Mirage, providing a significant boost to the Las Vegas community. The renovation will also create over 2,500 construction jobs. Hard Rock will pay approximately $80 million in severance packages to eligible employees who stay with the property until it closes.

Guests with reservations or show tickets beyond July 14, 2024, will have their bookings automatically cancelled and refunded. Those who booked through third-party providers or online travel agencies should contact them directly for rebooking or refunds.

Hard Rock International had acquired The Mirage in 2022 from MGM for $1.07bn. The plan to renovate and rebrand the hotel-casino was already in discussion by then.
