During the 56 Annual General Meeting of Genting Bhd, President and COO Tan Sri Tan Kong Han stated that Genting has shown interest in the possibility of integrated resorts and casino licences in Thailand and the UAE, as well as a keen interest in a US listing.

He was quoted while responding to stakeholders’ queries regarding Genting’s future plans in said meeting.

On the possible opportunities in Thailand and the UAE, Tan is confident of the group’s ability to operate and manage across multiple jurisdictions since they’ve successfully obtained licensing for their UK and US businesses, which included Resorts World New York City and over 30 provincial casinos across the UK.

On the topic of seeking US listing, Tan has stated that the move could "unlock shareholder value and enhance the value of the group" and thus is an important matter to focus on.

However, he added that the decision would "depend on the situation" as the group continues to observe the current US market and environment.

Earlier in May, Genting’s subsidiary Genting Singapore had expressed its interest as well in regards to Thailand and the UAE.

The end of Q1 2024 also saw Genting’s net profit rise 230% from last year's total.
