The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has released figures for gaming revenue in Macau for the month of May.
Monthly gross income during the period reached MOP$17.7bn (US$2.21bn), representing year-on-year growth of 16.4%. However, this also reflects a decline of about 12.4% when compared with May’s figures.
Looking at cumulative gross income, this was up by 41.9% when compared with June 2023’s figure, for a total of MOP$113.8bn. However, despite this month being the one to push this year's gross gaming income over the MOP100bn mark, MOP$17.7bn is still the smallest monthly income reported this year so far. As such, the 41.9% rate of change is the smallest increase so far this year, a figure which has continued to drop since February when the year-on-year growth was 72.7%.
The figures for visitor arrivals during the month of June have not been released yet, but looking at this year’s numbers so far, February saw by far the most in a month at 3,293,564. Since then it has taken a dip, though May’s visitor arrivals did slightly rise by 3.5% when compared with April to 2,692,191 people.
In other news from the region, the Macau Government has approved a five-year concession for Macau company STDM to operate the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal.
