Casino Filipino gaming venues are expected to receive approximately 2,000 new slot machines by mid-September, according to PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco.
The announcement was made during Tengco’s keynote speech at the IAG Academy Summit in the Hilton Manila.
Tengco said the delivery of the new machines will level up the game offerings of Casino Filipino branches nationwide, in a bid to increase foot traffic and boost overall profitability.
“As we prepare for the planned privatisation of PAGCOR casinos, we intend to increase their value by modernising our gaming facilities and equipment to make them more attractive to potential investors,” he said.
A total of 3,341 new slot machines have been ordered by the agency, with the first batch of 1,968 units slated for arrival in early September. The new machines are part of PAGCOR's modernisation program.
Recent news saw PAGCOR announce the Philippines’ Q2 gaming revenue, which saw a rise amounting to PHP 89.23bn (US$1.56bn).
PAGCOR had also appealed for outsourcing companies serving US and UK operations to be spared, after the nationwide POGO ban announcement by the Philippines’ President in July.
