Japan’s Angel Group, a gaming equipment supplier, has announced that it would be investing in a new factory worth $130m in Cotai’s Concordia industrial zone.

According to Japanese and Macau news media, the group made the announcement during the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday. The announcement also coincided with the group’s 75th anniversary. The project will cover a floor area of 25,000 square metres, slated for completion in 2026.

Angel Group Chairman and CEO, Yasushi Shigeta, said: “The completion of this factory has been a dream of Angel for many years and is proof of Angel’s deep commitment to Macau and its future.”

The factory would cater for its clients in Macau, producing Angel playing cards, smart tables and other equipment as needed by its local Macau market and industry.

Asuka Kurahashi, Angel Macau Ltd’s President and COO, said that: “Building a factory in Macau has been a dream from many years ago that will finally come true.”

Kurahashi also added that the factory would provide job opportunities for local skilled professionals and talents: “We definitely want to contribute to local talent development, to train locals, as we are focusing on developing smart tables, artificial intelligence-based gaming equipment and new technologies.”

Recently, Macau’s Labour Affairs Bureau announced that it would be hosting a job matchmaking session for its gaming sector businesses throughout the month of September.
