GambleAware has released its donation figures for the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year, reporting £294,722.99 ($382,745) in research, prevention and treatment (RPT) contributions between April and June 2024.
The organisation also received £40,000 in regulatory settlement funding from a single operator arrangement with the Gambling Commission.
The Q1 figures align with historical patterns observed over the past four financial years, where the first quarter typically sees a smaller proportion of annual donations compared to the fourth quarter.
This year marks the likely conclusion of the voluntary funding model for gambling-related harm initiatives, as a statutory levy is anticipated to be implemented in the upcoming fiscal year.
Under the current system, GambleAware relies on contributions from gambling operators who are urged to donate a minimum of 0.1% of their annual Gross Gambling Yield (GGY) to support efforts aimed at harm reduction.

Smaller operators with annual GGY below £250,000 are encouraged to contribute at least £250.
Commenting on the development, GambleAware CEO Zoe Osmond stated: “As we transition to the new system it is essential that funding is maintained at the same level as previous years to ensure there is no disruption to prevention and treatment services for gambling harm.”
Some of the largest donations came from Star Racing who donated £27,547.37, ProgressPlay who donated £24,346.68, Virgin Bet who donated £21,753.00, Postcode Lottery who donated £20,000.00 and Welcome Break who donated £19,300.00.
