Key points:
- Tabcorp’s Sky Racing to broadcast Turkish horse racing in Australia through a partnership with TJK and 1/ST Content
- The deal brings live Turkish racing, including the Gazi Derby, to Australian fans for both pari-mutuel and fixed-odds betting
- Asian market expansion is planned for early 2025
Tabcorp and 1/ST Content have finalised a long-term agreement with the Jockey Club of Turkiye (Türkiye Jokey Kulübü, TJK) to broadcast Turkish horseracing across Australia via Tabcorp’s Sky Racing platform.
This partnership grants Australian fans access to live Turkish racing, including the Gazi Derby, through both pari-mutuel and fixed-odds betting.
Off the back of this deal, Sky Racing will now feature Turkish races among its roster, adding another international circuit alongside events like the Breeders’ Cup, Epsom Derby and Royal Ascot.
The addition allows TAB, Tabcorp’s wagering operator, to become the first to offer vision and betting for Turkish racing.
The collaboration represents a coordinated effort among TJK, 1/ST Content and B2E Racing Content, whereby the companies have developed an infrastructure to enable betting and viewing access.
Commenting on this development, Paul Carew, COO at Tabcorp, stated: “Thanks to our wider strategic alliance with 1/ST Content, together with Arena Racing and Racecourse Media Group, Sky Racing continues to strengthen its position as Australia’s passport to the best international racing, and this new deal eloquently demonstrates that point.
“Anyone who’s ever seen the Gazi Derby knows this is a nation that loves its horses, and it routinely produces thrilling action together with some breakout trainers and jockeys on the world stage."
Simon Fraser, Senior Vice President International at 1/ST Content, added: “Tabcorp naturally represent a strong and enduring collaboration for 1/ST Content in the Australian market. Their distributional scope across digital and retail is second to none, while their local expertise is always a guiding hand for our delivery.
"We also look forward to further leveraging this relationship by delivering Turkish racing via Sky Channel to Tabcorp’s Asian customers in early 2025.”
