y Dragon hotel-casino launched with a soft open two weeks ago, on Saturday 3 December it had its official grand opening, a formal event with pyrotechnics and dancers.
Andrew Fonfa, hotel president, has already spoken on expanding the casino further, the first resort to open in Las Vegas since Cosmopolitan launched in December 2010, although the W Las Vegas hotel opened in Lux Tower on Thursday.
Lucky Dragon is keen to have the competition, Fonfa comments: “We are excited about the W, which is a name that everybody recognizes. That will help make us more successful, absolutely.”
The hotel president expects the Lucky Dragon’s customer base will break down to 60 percent local 20 percent from California and the last 20 percent coming from China thanks to the new direct Hainan Airlines routes from Beijing to Las Vegas.
Fonfa making clear that the casino is targeting the Asian market, states: “Everybody is all over the new concept that the Chinese are coming, the Asians are coming to Las Vegas, and we need to be prepared for that language in signage and we have addressed that from the start
“The other hotels, McCarran Airport, everyone needs to catch up and accommodate this huge Asian population.”
