Key points:
- Share of healthy revenue above 90% throughout 2024
- Tur saw healthy revenue share of 99.8% in Q4
Swedish operator Svenska Spel has reported on its 'healthy' revenue for the fourth quarter of 2024, a measure it uses to indicate safer gambling.
Healthy revenue refers to the revenue that comes from customers who play with a low risk of gambling problems, measuring factors such as how often and how much a customer plays, whether there are repeated deposits made during a gaming session and the customer's history of self-exclusion.
For Q4 2024, Svenska Spel achieved a healthy revenue share of 93.9%, following on from the third-quarter healthy revenue share of 94%, the highest quarterly figure of last year, with Q2 set at 93.3% and Q1 set at 92.5%.
While Casino Cosmopol is not included in the reporting of healthy revenue and revenue from the sale of unregistered scratch cards in stores is categorised as healthy, the operator has given insights into other verticals.
During Q4, the business area Vegas saw healthy revenue share of 76.6%; for sport & casino it was 82.2% and for Tur it was 99.8%.
Svenska Spel President and CEO Anna Johnson said: “The increase in 2024 shows that our responsible gaming measures are having a positive effect.
Good to know: Svenska Spel announced the decision to start reporting on healthy revenue share in June last year
“In 2025, we will continue our work to increase sustainable gaming and reduce revenue from customers who gamble in a way that can lead to problems.”
Svenska Spel Responsible Gambling Specialist Axel Lyckberg added: “The fact that a customer's income is categorised as healthy or unhealthy does not mean that the customer is either completely free of risk in their gambling or is experiencing problems.
“It is possible to move across the line between low and high risk. We follow the customers' gambling habits and contact those who have crossed or are at risk of crossing the line into unhealthy gambling. The goal is to help them take control.”
