Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, has released its gambling revenue figures for full-year 2024.

Overall gross gaming revenue (GGR) across the four main markets last year reached DKK 7.27bn ($1.02bn), representing an increase of 6.9% year-on-year.

Online casino GGR was responsible for nearly half of that total, with a figure of DKK 3.53bn. This was also 14.7% higher than online casino GGR from 2023. December was the month which brought in the largest figure for the sector, with gaming machines accounting for 78.2% of revenue, representing the game type which brought in the bulk of online casino GGR.

Betting GGR also experienced a rise, though this was only by 1.2% to DKK 2.21bn, with mobile accounting for the largest percentage of stakes on sales channels at 66.3%.

Good to know: Denmark introduced new licensing requirements for game suppliers at the start of this year, with adherence to the new certification program mandatory from July 2025

The only one of the four verticals that didn’t experience overall growth for 2024 was gaming machines, which saw a slight dip in GGR of 1.2% to DKK 1.16bn, with the daily average GGR being DKK 3.18m.

With the smallest portion of overall GGR in Denmark for 2024, land-based casinos recorded DKK 368m in GGR. Compared to 2023, this was up 1.7%.
