Key points:
- Yggdrasil welcomes UK-based Black Cat Games to its YGG Masters programme
- The studio will develop slot titles using Yggdrasil’s Phoenix platform
- Focus remains on creative content and broader market distribution
Yggdrasil has announced the addition of Black Cat Games to its YGG Masters programme, a move that will see the young UK-based developer producing new slot content through Yggdrasil’s established framework.
Founded in October 2023 by Doug Charnley and Adam Quickfall, Black Cat Games is focused on creating slot games with a strong visual identity and an emphasis on emotional storytelling. Its first release, Captain’s Curse, was developed in collaboration with Million Games.
Through the YGG Masters partnership, Black Cat Games will use Yggdrasil’s Phoenix platform to build and distribute its future titles. This platform provides technical support and access to a global network of operator partners.
Zoe Bird, Head of Masters at Yggdrasil, said the studio’s approach to game design fits well with the programme’s direction. Co-Founder Doug Charnley added that the partnership represents a step forward in bringing their ideas to a larger audience.
The YGG Masters programme supports smaller and independent game developers by offering them tools to launch games across regulated markets. Yggdrasil has continued to expand the initiative, seeking out studios that offer distinct styles and creative approaches.
Black Cat Games now joins a roster of partners contributing to Yggdrasil’s growing content library, with further titles expected to follow later in the year.
