Miguel Suqué Mateu, the businessman who led the Peralada Group alongside his siblings Javier and Isabel, died on 15 Sunday June, at the age of 63.
Suqué served as President of Casinos Grup Peralada and also oversaw the group’s hotel operations, which encompass various sectors including wine, hospitality, restaurants, automotive, museums, music festivals and casinos.
Throughout his career, Suqué was responsible for the international expansion of the group’s casino business, which currently operates establishments in Barcelona (Casino Barcelona), Peralada, Tarragona and several Latin American venues such as Santa Fe in Argentina, Salto in Uruguay and Ovalle in Chile.
In recent years, Suqué promoted a high-end electric vehicle under the Hispano Suiza brand, originally founded by his great-grandfather Damià Mateu and Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt. He also led the Hispano Suiza brand’s revival, launching a luxury electric sports car named “Carmen” in tribute to his mother.
The wake was held on Monday at the Ronda de Dalt funeral home in Barcelona, followed immediately by the farewell ceremony at the same location.
